A kick up the beehind for bee blocks.

I've been a bit lax on the bee blocks of late.

The blocks each month that have been requested for Bee a bit stingy have been fantastic and the pressure is on for me to find a good block to try out in October when I am queen bee.

These blocks are for Collette at Poppy and Poochie.  So going to put this quilt on my list of
TO MAKE.

These next blocks were for Shelia at Blue patch Quilter

Then I was delighted to get Nicky's block request early ...I'm expecting August to be a write off.

SO I am up to date for the singy group.

Next...

The Modern Irish Bee is coming to an end of its first year.
I have loved how relaxed this bee is.

These are some of the blocks that I had to get done.

Some triangles in Glimma for Anneliese  at Mail from a cheeky monkey
I haven't tied to sew Triangles before so it was all a learning curve for me.

I love these solid tumblers that Judith from Just Jude got us to do.
Again I have never tried tumblers before.  We also had to contribute a tumbler for each block...I chose to do a scrappy tumbler in each.
The navy really frames them well too.

I still have one more block to do.  Scrappy Chevrons.  (Sorry Eva).
It will be done before this kicking baby arrives!

Happy sewing.

Something is Buzzing in the Bee Hive.

I was trying to finalise my bee block for the month on March for the Modern Irish Bee.   See it is the first time that I have been the Queen Bee and there are many ideas buzzing through my scatty brain over the past month.
This was my idea but I think there is far too much buseeeeeey - ness going on and my little star is getting lost in the Low Volume background.
Before I cut into some other background fabric to send my starved colony of bees to work, (I think they are buzzing with impatience for me to get my parcels of honey out to them) Is it going to look too much? or am I better sticking with one coloured background?

Queen Erin......buzz, buzz, buzz.

Bee a star!

I'm having a few days off work so am loving that it is raining cats and dogs outside...until I want to take a photo that is. Finally I got my September block finished off
for our latest blocks for the Modern Irish Bee....

Cindy at Fluffy Sheep Quilting was our Queen and what a block she had for us.

Now I do love HST's but I kept putting these off as I didn't want to rush them.
I hope they will be OK for you Cindy
I promise they will be in the post tomorrow.

Buzz, buzz, buzz.........

I decided to bite the bullet and join my first Quilting Bee...

The Modern Quilting Guild is having it's first Bee and seeing everyone else seems to have fun from all their bee's, I thought that when one popped up, I would try it out...  I hope I won't disappoint.
A little scared but hey it can't be that hard...Or is it?
Mmm, I better get myself organised for next March.......

This month was Sarah from Faryface Designs

Sarah asked us to make two blocks of Mod Mosaic Quilt Blogs from  Elizabeth's blog Oh Fransson. Sarah, such great blocks to choose.  I can't wait to see this quilt top.

Sarah's parcel arrived and I got to work on these this weekend....yes a little later than others but they are done.  Like a few others in the bee, I did find them a little tricky and although I thought I was doing OK on the first but the second was a lot harder.

We had an option to include a few scraps in as well and so I did as my second (red/pink) was a little on the small size....it might have been because while I was almost finished I found this on the floor.....

It must have been a sock in it's past life!

So here they are Sarah...hope you like them.  They will be in the post on Monday so on the 9pm train down to Cork.

Hope they arrive safely!
