Will the dust ever settle?

This is the photo I had to send Cindy this week to show her why I hadn't sent over my FQ Scraps for the Modern Quilt Guild Ireland that had a dead line of this week......
My spare room that has turned into the new storage shed
and has got progressively worse as the week went on.

In the room is a Golf Buggy still in it's extra large box, the ladder, a sink, the old cabinet from the bathroom ample bits and pieces from the old shower, left over tiles and everything that you can think of in the way of creams, body lotions, facial scrubs from the bathrooms and behind all that junk are my boxes of fabric under the bed that is waiting for me to pull out.  A nightmare that will have to be faced soon as I am meant to be participating in the Retro Flower QAL and haven't even chosen my fabric yet.......get your socks on Erin.....

But on a happier note, My stash has grown over the past week.
Thanks to Kate at M is for make.
She has such a great service.

Two wonderful bundles of fabric that I have been wishing and wishing for but have been making an excuse not to buy.....but....

I did.

I do hope to get some sewing done this week with some cleaning and sorting out my bathrooms.
It's all to hard to decide what mirror to get and where to put the new shelves.

Swoon top almost finished too.  Hooray!

Half Square Triangles Linky Party.

Megan at Canoe Ridge Creations is having a Half Square Triangle Linky Party,
with lots of great prizes to win.

And you know what that means.....Yep my Echo quilt is coming out again (blogged here) and will be linked up to Megan's party...not that I really think that it will get anywhere when the FABULOUS Hadley has her quilt in the comp and hold on why isn't her great Mouthy Stitches pouch not in it!

So here is my Echo Quilt again

And the back!

I hope there are enough HST's in there!
Fingers crossed.

I've been a little quiet of late.

To all of you that are dropping by thanks very much but there is not much to write about or show of late.
You see there is some construction going on in my house....
I stupidly agreed to new bathrooms in the house.  Tiles, bath, showers.  It seemed a good idea at the beginning, but oh how the house looks like a bomb has hit it!
There is dust everywhere and a toilet plonked in the spare room while the new bath came a week early and has been sitting at the end of my bed waiting to be installed.
So you can imagine the house is not a pretty site and with so much dust to clean up when I get home each day.  ( I don't know why I even bothered....) it was no place to leave a sewing machine or fabric lying around.
Last weekend I got.... a little done.
After all the washing and a bit of munching on some Easter eggs, I managed to get another Swoon block finished  and the next two blocks cut out. (ready for next weekend)

The next quater....

Once upon a time.........
When I first started quilting I made this very simple quilt for a friends little boy.

When I started off quilting I thought it was best to start somewhere that was achieveable.
  No Hexies or HST's here.
I went back to all of Red Pepper Quilts first quilts that Rita had on her blog and thought that this is where I start.  Something simple and easy.
Back then I thought I needed lots of fabric for making one quilt so I bought up big on this line
But then I realised I had enough to make two more quilts so with a few of the scraps I made up some Log cabins for the back ( blogged here)  Remember these?

Then off I went to quilt them.........
and off I went to quilt them........
and off I went to quilt them.......
are you seeing the pattern here.....
So you know the story, They are still sitting in the cupboard not finished.

2012 Finish-A-Long

So numbers 1 and 2 of my Finish a long is to finish quilting, and binding these quilts.
But wait... There is a trick to it.  I'm going to try some FMQ on them
(the thoughts of it is why they are still in the  cupboard I'd say.)

Now you may think that I am cheating and only putting two UFO's up.
But you see I do have a few others but I have never blogged about them so really I can't put them up.
I do have my Swoon, Kitchen Window, Retro Flower and Stained Glass to do also...
I'd say there will be  few projects for part 3 of Finish a Long Rhonda!

Book Crazy

Before Christmas I went on line and made a wish list on Amazon.

There were a few books I have seen around that I wanted to buy through recommendations and they seemed to be popping up on blogs.
I seem to always have a wishlist on Amazon.  I like to ponder on the decision of buying for a little while.
( You wouldn't want to spend all your money on books and miss out of a new fabric range arriving.)

So I was glad to finally decide to get them...All five in one day.

I have only flicked though each book but have already found some great ideas in them and am a wee bit excited especially about one.    Printing by Hand.

This was one of my plans for the year...I wanted to try my hand at some screen printing for myself.  A bit of fun but when I will get it done, I do not know.  It has some great ideas in it with some little patterns to try myself.  I can't wait.

I haven't looked though this yet but although very technical, I think there will be much to learn from it.
