One of my first quilts that I have made is a bright fresh quilt. As I'm only new to this, I chose a charm pack to start with. It's a Hoot by Moda. I wanted to keep it simple so matched it up with some white cotton
Soon enough each square of the charm pack was framed in white, I was quite happy that the quilt was so fresh looking....maybe I could be successful at this!
I went for some straight stitching to sandwich everything together and when each frame was finished I decided I would be adventurous and try some free hand quilting in each square of the It's a Hoot fabric.
The quilt was finished with some red and white polka dot for the binding...a favourite of mine.
I was really happy with the end product, until I found a wee black smudge stain on bottom hand corner of the quilt....Well I was going to keep it for myself anyway.
Each quilt I make, I learn something new, from sewing the binding rather than hand stitching or how to line up all the seams correctly...
I will probably stick to another charm pack for my next quilt....Hope you all have a good sewing week!
Your quilt is beautiful. I also learn something new everytime I work on a quilt, and I started quilting in 1992. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol....I hope to be a bit more adventurous in my next projects!

ReplyDeleteI found your blog via Lily's blog. This is a lovely quilt. I love the stripe on the backing.
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous - simple, clean and elegant!
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to see a trend...the quilting bug seems to follow on the heels of a new baby. That's exactly how I caught it! Congratulations, and welcome!
ReplyDeleteWoah, I love this! Did you just use the one charm pack? I always pick them up in the quilt shop only to put them back because I know I don't have any patterns that will work with them, but I love how yours turned out. Did you use a pattern or just wing it?
ReplyDeleteI have *just* stumbled upon the It's a Hoot line and can't believe I missed it! It's sooooo up my alley!
ReplyDeleteYes Rylee just one charm pack. Loads of white cotton though. I didn't know what else to do with it but to frame each square with some white fabric.
ReplyDeleteAdorable!!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a darling quilt! Congrats!!
